Childcare Guidelines

•  Every event providing childcare is required to have a minimum of two (2) caregivers for up to six (6) children. For every additional six (6) children, there should be one (1) additional caregiver (i.e. 7-12 children requires 3 caregivers, 13-18 children requires 4 caregivers, etc). If there are any children three (3) years of age or younger, there must be at least one adult, 18 years old or over, providing childcare.

•  Use of the nursery area must be supervised at all times. Children three (3) years of age or younger should be kept in the nursery area with the door closed for their safety.

•  Children older than three (3) years of age may use the open space of the lower level with supervision.

•  Children are welcome to use any books, puzzles and games from our display cases.

•  Children should never be in or around office areas.

•  Children should not be in kitchen area.

•  Children are not allowed to exit the building from the exterior stairway unless they are with their parents.

•  Use of the piano is prohibited.

•  Groups must provide their own snacks and drinks. Religious Education supplies are not to be used.

•  Snacks and drinks should be consumed at tables on linoleum floor areas.

•  TV/VCR are not to be moved due to safety concerns – except by UUCC staff.

•  Children are not to operate TV/VCR.

•  Running and chasing games are not permitted due to safety concerns.  

•  Caregivers are strongly urged to plan some structured activities/games for the older children especially if a large crowd is expected.

•  CLEAN UP PROCEDURES

  • Put away all books, toys, puzzles and games in their storage areas.
  • Pile pillows neatly and return tables and chairs to their proper places.
  • Whiteboards and chalkboards should be cleaned and chalk and markers capped and put away.
  • If snacks were provided, tables should be washed off and the floor swept.
  • Garbage containing food or drink must be removed by the group in charge of the event.
  • Turn off all lights.

•  If clean up is not complete, your group may forfeit the use of the lower level for future events.
