This website, uucommunitychurch.org, is owned and operated by the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Southwest Michigan, hereafter in this document called UUCC and referred to by the pronouns we, us, and our. The UUCC office and sanctuary are currently located at 10441 Shaver Road, Portage, Michigan 49024. UUCCóthat is, The Board of Trustees of UUCCóis entirely responsible for the content of the UUCC website.
Our website, uucommunitychurch.org, may be visited without submitting any personal identification information. Users may voluntarily submit email addresses or other personal identifying information to take part in an activity via the website, such as to sign up for a mailing list or request information. Such supplied information is strictly used to advance the ministries of our church. We do not sell, lease, or distribute any information to any commercial entities.
If you are or become a member of our congregation, your contact information will be shared with the Unitarian Universalist Association to enable your free subscription to UUWorld magazine. You may opt out by informing the Membership Committee.
Personal email addresses are not permitted to be publicly displayed on the UUCC website. Any exception must be with the explicit written permission of and at the request of the email address’s owner and with the consent of a Website Administrator or Editor.
Excepting the UUCC church office email address, no publicly displayed email address on the UUCC website, whether institutional, commercial, or personal, shall be a live, active link and none shall be in an easy to select, copy, and paste text format. Rather, either each email address shall be a cropped photograph, scan, or screenshot image or shall be in a nonstandard format that must be edited and retyped to work.
The UUCC website shall publicly display no telephone number, whether landline, cell, or other, besides the telephone number of the church office. Any exception must be with the explicit written permission of and at the request of the telephone number’s owner and with the consent of a Website Administrator or Editor. To call a UUCC staff person or member, use the UUCC Directory or ask the Office Administrator to relay a message.
The UUCC website shall not publicly display anyone’s home address. Any exception must be with the explicit written permission of and at the request of the home owner or renter and with the consent of a Website Administrator or Editor.
The UUCC website shall not publish birthdays, ages, children’s names, or private facts, such as medical condition. For pastoral care and dates to celebrate information within the UUCC community, see the printed or email attachment edition of the monthly newsletter.
The church website shall not publish a photograph or graphic image unless it is in the public domain or has an appropriate Creative Commons license or the Web Team Photos Editor or a Web Team Administrator or Editor has obtained written permission from its copyright holder (usually the photographer).
The church website shall not publish a photograph of an original art work protected by copyright without the copyright holder’s (usually the artist’s) consent.
The church website shall not publish a photograph unless any identifiable person in it (or that person’s parent or guardian if a minor) has given written consent. Generally privacy law does not require this of photos taken at public events on public property, but even then our standard procedure is to ask. Nor shall we include names or other personal information in a caption or alt attribute without permission.
Our web site contain some hyperlinks to web sites operated by parties other than Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Southwest Michigan. These hyperlinks are provided for your reference only. Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Southwest Michigan does not control such web sites and is not responsible for their contents. Our website software or website hosting service may automatically gather information from your browser and may set cookies to determine trends in peak activity, determine the number of visitors, track the frequency that individual pages are accessed, and to ensure our links are working properly. For each visitor to our website, the hosting server automatically recognizes the visitorís domain name, IP (Internet Protocol) address, and browser software.
